BRUNIACEAE

family of shrubby evergreen plants, in the order Rosales, comprising 12 genera native to southern Africa, many resembling heather in habit. Members of the family have clusters of thin branches and small leaves. Brunia stokoei develops hairy red and white flowers and grows to 1 to 5 m (3 to 16 feet) in height. Species of the genera Brunia and Berzelia are cultivated as ornamentals.
