only genus in the family Brunoniaceae, containing one species (B. australis), commonly known as blue pincushion. It is a perennial herb, 30 centimetres (1 foot) tall, with heads of blue, five-lobed flowers, native to Australia and Tasmania. Its spade-shaped leaves occur in basal rosettes. The fruits are one-seeded nuts.
