Meaning of BRYANKA in English

also spelled Brianka, city, Luhansk oblast (province), eastern Ukraine. Bryanka is located on the Lozovaya River, a tributary of the Luhan River, in the Donets Basin. It developed around a mining camp in 1889 and remains the centre of an active coal-mining area. Until 1962, when it became a city, Bryanka was a district of the city of Kadiyevka (now Stakhanov). Besides the numerous coal mines, Bryanka has industries specializing in drilling equipment and reinforced concrete products. Several professional schools are located there. Pop. (1994 est.) 65,000.
