CABAIGUN

city, northern Sancti Spritus province, central Cuba. It is an important manufacturing and commercial centre for surrounding agricultural and pastoral lands known primarily for their sugarcane, although tobacco and fruits are grown and cattle are raised. Sugar refining is the principal industrial activity in the city, which lies on the central highway and a major railroad. Pop. (1981 prelim.) 36,544.
