city, Kanagawa ken (prefecture), Honshu, Japan. Originally a small post town, it developed in the late 19th century as a fashionable suburb of the Tokyo-Yokohama Metropolitan Area. In the northern rural area, garden agriculture (especially strawberries and chrysanthemums) thrives.
