CUDBEAR

violet, red, or bluish dyestuff, considered similar to orchil and used in colouring pharmaceuticals; also any colour obtained from this dye. Cudbear is also the common name for the lichens (Ochrolechia, Roccella, Lecanora) from which the dye is derived.
