CUSHITE DYNASTY

also called Napata Dynasty, or Ethiopian Dynasty, Cushite also spelled Kushite, 25th dynasty of Egypt (c. 750656 BC), founded by Shabaka (q.v.) after his father, Kashta, had annexed Upper Egypt to Cush and his brother, Piye (q.v.), had conquered the rest of Egypt. Cush was the southern portion of the region known as Nubia (q.v.).
