town, northwestern Dominican Republic. The town is located along the Dajabn River, just across from Ouanaminthe, Haiti, on the northern slopes of the Cordillera Central (Central Mountains). It was founded between 1771 and 1776, abandoned during the War of Independence, and resettled after the War of Restoration (1865). Dajabn serves as a trade centre for the hides, timber, bananas, coffee, and honey produced in the region. Pop. (1981) 8,808.
