resort town and seaport on the western coast of the volcanic island of Ischia, Napoli province, Campania region, southern Italy. It is the centre of a productive wine-making region. The wine is called Epomeo after Mt. Epomeo, the extinct volcano that is at least partially responsible for the island's fertile volcanic soils. Foriolike Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno, and other cities on Ischiahas thermal mineral springs and is a popular vacation site. Pop. (1984 est.) mun., 10,270.
