FRIAR LAURENCE

a well-intentioned but foolish Franciscan priest in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. A loyal friend to Romeo, Friar Laurence is eager to aid him in all his endeavours, despite their often reckless nature. Thoughtful and sentimental, he is Romeo and Juliet's only real advocate, but his bumbling ways contribute to the inevitable tragedy.
