city and port, northern Mindanao, Philippines. It lies at the head of Gingoog Bay, which is an inlet of the Bohol Sea. It was founded in 1750 by Recollect missionaries of the order of Friars Minor. Located in an area that produces coffee and coconut, Gingoog is also an important logging and sawmilling centre for nearby commercial forest reserves. Coffee, plywood, and timber are the principal exports. Inc. city, 1960. Pop. (1980) 79,937; (1990) 83,000.
