city, southeastern Gois state, south central Brazil. Lying in rolling uplands between the Verssimo and Corumb rivers, tributaries of the Paranaba, it is primarily a cattle-shipping centre that also houses meat-processing and rice-hulling plants. Additional income is derived from the gathering and selling of rock crystals and rutile for use as gemstones. The city is on the railroad linking Goinia, the state capital, and Anpolis with So Paulo and Belo Horizonte. It is also accessible by highway from Goinia, which lies to the northwest. Pop.
