JUTIAPA

city, southeastern Guatemala. It lies on the southern flanks of the central highlands at an elevation of 2,926 feet (892 m) above sea level. Jutiapa is a commercial and manufacturing centre for the agricultural and pastoral hinterland. The climate is very hot. Jutiapa lies 75 miles (120 km) southeast of Guatemala City and just south of the Pan-American Highway. Pop. (1990 est.) 16,625.
