city, Ivano-Frankovsk oblast (province), southwestern Ukraine. Kalush was incorporated as a city in 1939 and became the centre of Kalush rayon (sector). It is approximately 56 miles (90 km) southeast of Lviv and is on the Ivano-FrankovskStry rail line. Industries include food processing, clothing manufacture, chemicals, and concrete. There is also a chemical and technological tekhnikum (semiprofessional training school). Pop. (1991 est.) 69,400.
