Russian Poluostrov Kanin, peninsula in Arkhangelsk oblast (province), northwestern Russia. It separates the White Sea to the west from the Cheshskaya Guba (Bay), a gulf of the Barents Sea, to the east. It has an area of about 4,000 sq mi (10,500 sq km). Except in the north, where the Kanin Kamen runs northwestsoutheast, the peninsula is a flat, marshy, tundra plain of glacial and marine deposits. Numerous morainic hills rise to 230260 ft (7080 m).
