Meaning of LITVNOV in English

industrial commune, northern Severocesk kraj (region), northwestern Czech Republic. Located at the foot of the Krun Hory (Ore Mountains), the commune was created in 1950 from the villages of Horn Litvnov, Doln Litvnov, Chudern, Lipetn, and Rauchengrund and has become part of the Most-Zluz-Litvnov industrial complex. Brown coal (lignite) is mined, and there is metallurgical industry in the city of Litvnov; it also has chemical and petrochemical complexes. Zluz has a petroleum refinery. Litvnov also is a major producer of cotton textiles and clothing. Pop. (1991 prelim.) 29,085.
