MARITIME PROVINCES

the Canadian Atlantic CoastGulf of St. Lawrence provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. With Newfoundland they form the Atlantic Provinces. During the French period much of the region was known as Acadia, which was ceded to the British by the Treaty of Utrecht (1713).
