MARWYSGAFN

(Welsh: deathbed song), religious ode in which the poet, sensing the approach of death, confesses his sins and prays for forgiveness. The marwysgafn was popular during the period of the Welsh court poets, called gogynfeirdd in the 12th14th centuries.
