Melun-Snart, which is southeast of Paris, is one of several new towns developed outside the capital since 1965. The agglomeration of Melun-Snart includes Melun and the communes of Boissettes, Dammarie-Les-Lyes, Livry-sur-Seine, Le Me-sur Seine, La Rochette, Rubelles, and Vaux-le-Pnil. The new town of vry is nearby. Pop. (1982) agglomeration, 81,732.
