burgh (town), East Dunbartonshire council area, historic county of Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It lies north of Glasgow, of which it is now chiefly a residential suburb. Milngavie has light industries and reservoirs that store water from Loch Katrine to supply Glasgow. Pop. (1991) 12,592.
