Russian Navoi, city, central Uzbekistan. Nawoiy is a natural-gasbased industrial city and a major chemical centre with industries that produce fertilizer and chemical fibres. There are also a large cement plant and a large district power station in the city. Pop. (1991 est.) 111,600.
