Spanish Pennsula de Osa peninsula, southern Costa Rica, bounded on the northwest by Coronado Bay, on the west by the Pacific Ocean, and on the east by the Gulf of Dulce. Costa Rica's second largest peninsula, Osa measures about 20 miles (30 km) northeast-southwest and about 35 miles (55 km) northwest-southeast. The generally low-lying terrain, rising to an elevation of 2,566 feet (782 m) at Tigre Hill, is used for livestock raising. The principal town on the peninsula is the port of Puerto Jimnez, on the Gulf of Dulce. No major highways or railways lead onto the peninsula.
