Meaning of PESSAC in English

town, southwestern suburb of Bordeaux, Gironde dpartement, southwestern France. It was the site of a Gallo-Roman villa of the patrician Pesus. Located in the Graves vineyard district, it is noted for its red wines (Haut-Brion, Pape Clment). The 17th-century chteau of Haut-Brion, with its famous vineyard, is located there. It is also the site of a housing project designed by Le Corbusier. Pessac has some diversified manufacturing. Pop. (1990) 51,055.
