PHULBANI

city, central Orissa state, eastern India. It is located about 22 miles (35 km) southwest of the Mahanadi River. The city is relatively modern, although small in size. Its industries produce milled rice, glassware, and woven cloth. Phulbani is the site of a government science college affiliated with Berhampur University. Roads connect the city with Berhampur and Bolangir towns. Pop. (1991 prelim.) 27,152.
