PLATYCRINITES

genus of extinct crinoids, or sea lilies, especially characteristic as fossils of Early Carboniferous marine deposits (360 to 320 million years ago). Platycrinites, of moderate size, had a columnar stem with a twisted pattern, an unusual feature.
