PYRILAMINE

also called mepyramine synthetic drug used to counteract the histamine reaction, as in allergies. Pyrilamine was among the first antihistamines to be introduced; it was first prepared in 1944. Pyrilamine is administered orally, usually in the form of the compound pyrilamine maleate, which occurs as white crystals, soluble in water.
