SAN MARTN DEL REY AURELIO

municipio (municipality), Asturias provincia and comunidad autnoma (autonomous community), northwestern Spain. It lies in the mountains known as the Cordillera Cantbrica, just southeast of Oviedo city. The municipality takes its name from the tomb of Aurelio, an 8th-century king of Asturias, in the parish church of San Martn village. It is a coal-mining and stock-raising region with Sotrondio as its chief population centre. Pop. (1981) 25,233.
