eldest son of the late emperor of Rome, and afterwards emperor himself, in Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus. Saturninus is an unethical and dishonourable emperor. Though he attains his position largely through the backing of Titus, Saturninus soon perceives Titus as a threat to his power and approves of the devious plots of Tamora.
