Meaning of SHCHUCHINSK in English

Kazak Shchuchinsk, also spelled cucinsk city, northern Kazakstan, on Lake Shchuchye. It was founded in 1828 as a Cossack settlement and is the centre of a large agricultural area. Shchuchinsk is also a health resort and the railway station for the leading Kazakstan health resort, Borovoye, which is 15 miles (25 km) away. In the vicinity are the Kazak Forestry Research Institute and a noted arboretum. Pop. (1991 est.) 56,000.
