Meaning of TULLE in English

town, capital of Corrze dpartement, Limousin rgion, central France. It is situated on the western edge of the upland block known as the Massif Central. The town is strung out along the deep, narrow Corrze valley, and its streets climb steep hill slopes. Only the 12th-century nave and the belfry remain of its ancient Cathedral of Saint-Martin, part of which collapsed in 1796. The town is the site of a national firearms factory. Its name was given to what was once an important regional industry, the making of tulle, a fine silk net. Pop. (1990) 17,164.
