town, MauricieBois-Francs region, southern Quebec province, Canada, on the Nicolet River. Originally called Demersville, it became a village in 1860 and was renamed for Queen Victoria in 1861. Victoriaville is located in a mixed farming area and serves as a distributing centre. The town processes food and manufactures hockey sticks, furniture, clothing, farm implements, bricks, and sheet metal and foundry products. Victoriaville College, a bilingual commercial institution that is operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, is on the eastern outskirts of the town. Inc. town, 1890. Pop. (1991) 21,495.
