also called Guaymalln suburb east of the city of Mendoza, in north Mendoza province, western Argentina, in the intensively irrigated Ro Mendoza valley, at the base of the Andes fronting on the west. It is both an agricultural centre, producing wine grapes, peaches, apples, plums, and olives, and a built-up area with wineries, sawmills, and barrel factories. Villa Nueva is one of the six localities that constitute Greater Mendoza. Pop. (1980) 157,334.
