Meaning of ADAM in English

(1728–92)

a Scottish architect who, with his brother James (1730–94), started a new neoclassical style (= one influenced by the styles of ancient Greece and Rome) in British building and furniture design. They designed many famous houses, including Kenwood House and the main building of Edinburgh University.
