ATKINS DIET

a weight loss programme developed by Dr Robert Atkins (1930–2003) which involves restricting the amount of carbohydrates, such as bread, pasta, etc, that you eat and replacing them with more protein and fat, such as meat, butter, etc. People who follow the diet are expected to lose weight because their body will burn more fat for energy. The diet has become very popular in the US and Britain and there are many Atkins books and food products available.
