I . Berkeley
a city on San Francisco Bay in California , US. It has the largest branch of the University of California. In the 1960s and 1970s protests by students at Berkeley influenced other student movements in America.
II . Busby Berkeley
(1895–1976)
a US film and stage director and choreographer. He is best remembered for his grand music and dance sequences involving many actors, in such films as 42nd Street (1933).
III . Lennox Berkeley
(1903–89)
an English composer whose work was much influenced by Benjamin Britten . He wrote a wide variety of music, but is best known for his chamber works (= music for a small orchestra) and some fine modern religious pieces. He was made a knight in 1974.
