Meaning of BLACKFOOT in English

n ( pl Blackfeet or Blackfoot )

a member of a Native-American tribe. They had this name because they wore black moccasins (= shoes made of soft leather). They grew tobacco and had more horses than most tribes. Today many of their people live on reservations (= land given and protected by the government) in the state of Montana and in Canada in the province of Alberta.
