1. ( also the Battle of Blenheim ) a battle fought in 1704 near the small town of Blenheim in Bavaria, at which the British, led by the first Duke of Marlborough , defeated the army of the French king Louis XIV.
2. ( also Blenheim Palace ) a grand house in large grounds near Oxford , England, the home of the Duke of Marlborough . It was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh between 1705 and 1724. Sir Winston Churchill was born there in 1874. It was made a World Heritage Site in 1987.
