a US city in the state of Tennessee . It is on the Tennessee River and next to Lookout Mountain. During the American Civil War , Union soldiers climbed the mountain to defeat the Southern army at the Battle of Chattanooga (1863). The city is also well known because of the song Chattanooga Choo Choo .
