( Richard Bruce Cheney 1941– )
a US politician and businessman who was Vice President of the US under George W Bush from 2001. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1978 and served as Secretary of Defense under George H W Bush from 1989 to 1993. He was also the head of a large energy services company, Halliburton, from 1995 to 2000.
