I . Arthur C Clarke
( Arthur Charles Clarke 1917– )
an Engish writer of science-fiction novels and books about space travel. He is best known for the very successful Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) which was made from his story The Sentinel (1951). Clarke has lived for many years in Sri Lanka. He was made a knight in 1998.
II . Kenneth Clarke
(1940– )
a British politician in the Conservative Party . He was Secretary of State for health (1988–90) and for education (1990–92). He became Home Secretary in 1992 and was Chancellor of the Exchequer 1993–97.
