an English writer of popular novels, often about rich people. She lives in Hollywood and is the sister of Joan Collins .
II . Joan Collins
(1933– )
an English actor who has been in many films but is best known for playing the part of Alexis in the US television series Dynasty .
III . Judy Collins
(1939– )
a US singer and writer of folk music . She has a very clear voice. In the 1960s she protested against the Vietnam War and supported the civil rights movement . Her most successful songs include Amazing Grace (1970) and Send in the Clowns (1975). She has also written a novel, Shameless (1995). President Clinton named his daughter Chelsea, after Judy Collins’s song Chelsea Morning (1972).
IV . Michael Collins
(1890–1922)
a leader in the fight against British rule in Ireland. He fought in the Easter Rising in Dublin in 1916, joined Sinn Fein and helped to form the Irish Republican Army . After helping to create the Irish Free State in 1921, he commanded the Irish Free State forces and was head of the state for ten days before being killed by Irishmen who disagreed with him.
V . Wilkie Collins
(1824–89)
an English writer of novels. His most famous novels are The Woman in White (1860) and The Moonstone (1868), which is regarded as the first real detective novel in English.
