I . Billy Connolly
(1942– )
a Scottish comedian and actor, known for his rude stories and jokes, which he tells in a strong Scottish accent. He is sometimes called the ‘Big Yin’ (which means the ‘big one’) because of his size and loud voice. In 1997 he played Queen Victoria’s servant John Brown in the film Mrs Brown .
II . Cyril Connolly
(1903–74)
an English author and literary critic. His best-known book is The Rock Pool (1935), a novel about artists living in the south of France. He started a literary magazine called Horizon , through which his ideas influenced many writers between 1930 and 1950.
