a low, fast US sports car produced by the Chevrolet section of General Motors . It was first sold in 1953, and one of its most popular models was the Stingray. There are hundreds of clubs of Corvette owners, and the National Corvette Museum opened in 1994 in Bowling Green, Kentucky .
