I . Joan Crawford

(1908–77)

a US film actor who was a Hollywood star for more than 40 years. She won an Oscar for Mildred Pierce (1945) and acted with Bette Davis in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). Her daughter Christina wrote a book, Mommie Dearest (1978), which attacked Crawford as a mother, and there was a film version in 1981 in which Faye Dunaway played Crawford.

II . Michael Crawford

(1942– )

an English comedy actor, especially on television where he played the part of Frank Spencer in Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em (1973–8). He later had international success in musical stage shows, especially Barnum (1981) and The Phantom of the Opera (1986).
