a US comic actor and singer with a harsh voice who was called ‘Schnozzola’ because of his large nose. He was a star of vaudeville , radio and television, and ended each show by saying ‘Goodnight, Mrs Calabash, wherever you are,’ although he never revealed who she was. Durante also appeared in many films.
