Meaning of ELEANOR OF AQUITAINE in English

(1122–1204)

a queen of France from 1137 until 1152, when it was officially declared that her marriage to King Louis VII was not valid. Soon afterwards Eleanor married Henry of Anjou, who in 1154 became King Henry II of England. She supported their sons when they fought against Henry in 1173, and was put in prison until 1189. Henry died in that year and their son Richard then became King Richard I . Eleanor was a remarkable woman who led her own soldiers on the second Crusade .
