Fêtes usually consist of sports, children’s games and competitions, with people selling things that they have made, such as jam and cakes. They are often used to raise money for a local charity, church or school. In small towns they are important social events. Similar events in the US are usually called bazaars . Church and Christmas bazaars are traditional.
