a group of several thousand columns of rock on the north-east coast of Northern Ireland. Most of the columns have five or six flat sides. According to the legend, it is one end of a road built by a giant across the sea to the island of Staffa , where there is a similar group of rocks. It is an important tourist attraction and was made a World Heritage Site in 1986.
