I . Brenda Hale
(1945– )
an English lawyer and judge. She taught law at university and worked for a government law commission, before becoming a High Court judge in 1994. In 2004 she became the first female Law Lord .
II . Nathan Hale
(1755–76)
an American soldier who was hanged by the British during the American Revolution for being a spy. He is remembered for saying ‘I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country,’ just before he was killed.
