the lower house of the British Parliament , in which elected Members of Parliament meet to discuss current political issues and vote on Acts of Parliament . The House of Commons consists of 659 Members of Parliament who each represent an area of the country called a constituency and who are elected in a general election in which everyone over the age of 18 can vote. If an MP dies or resigns, a by-election is held in their constituency.
